Greenvolt required environmental noise assessments to support planning applications associated with an existing solar development and a proposed extension. The assessments were required to establish the existing acoustic environment, evaluate potential noise effects at surrounding residential properties and demonstrate the suitability of the developments from an environmental noise perspective.
Allegro Acoustics was commissioned by Greenvolt to complete baseline environmental noise monitoring at representative noise-sensitive locations surrounding the sites. The survey data was used to establish appropriate assessment criteria and provide a robust basis for evaluating noise from the proposed developments.
Detailed environmental noise modelling was undertaken to predict operational noise from relevant solar farm infrastructure at nearby noise-sensitive receptors. The assessments also considered potential noise during the construction phase, with predicted noise levels evaluated against the relevant environmental noise criteria and mitigation measures identified where required.
The completed noise impact assessments provided Greenvolt and the wider project teams with robust technical evidence to support the planning applications, demonstrating how construction and operational noise could be effectively managed at surrounding noise-sensitive properties.
