Derra Solar Farm is a proposed solar energy development requiring a detailed environmental noise assessment to evaluate potential operational noise effects at surrounding residential properties and support the planning application.
Allegro Acoustics completed a baseline environmental noise survey at representative noise-sensitive locations surrounding the site to establish the existing acoustic environment. The survey data was used to establish appropriate assessment criteria and provide a robust basis for evaluating noise from the proposed development.
A detailed 3D environmental noise model was developed using SoundPLAN to predict operational noise from the proposed solar infrastructure at nearby noise-sensitive receptors. The modelling was used to assess the contribution from relevant noise-generating plant and identify acoustic mitigation measures where required.
The completed Noise Impact Assessment provided the project team with a robust evaluation of environmental noise from Derra Solar Farm and the technical evidence required to support the development through the planning process.
