Dorset Point is a purpose-built student accommodation development in Dublin, providing modern student bedrooms together with shared kitchens, study areas and communal spaces. Creating a comfortable living and learning environment required careful acoustic design to protect residents from external noise, provide effective sound insulation between rooms and control noise from building services.
Allegro Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy services throughout the design and construction of the development. The appointment included an environmental noise survey, façade acoustic design, sound insulation design between bedrooms and apartments, and assessment of mechanical and electrical services noise. Allegro Acoustics specified the required wall constructions, floor constructions, doors and acoustic surface finishes to demonstrate full compliance with Technical Guidance Document E. Ongoing technical reviews, site inspections and post-completion acoustic testing were undertaken to ensure the completed building achieved the required acoustic performance.
