Crockahenny Windfarm

Crockahenny, County Donegal, Ireland

Crockahenny Windfarm

Crockahenny Windfarm is an operational wind energy development in County Donegal. Ongoing environmental noise monitoring was required to assess the operational performance of the windfarm and verify compliance with the applicable noise limits at nearby noise-sensitive properties.

Allegro Acoustics completed a long-term unattended environmental noise monitoring programme at multiple locations surrounding the windfarm. The assessment was undertaken in accordance with ETSU-R-97, with simultaneous measurement of environmental noise, wind speed and rainfall to establish the relationship between background noise levels, weather conditions and windfarm operation. The monitoring data was analysed to determine operational noise levels at nearby receptors and assess compliance with the applicable planning noise criteria.

The completed assessment provided the windfarm operator with robust technical evidence of operational noise performance and a clear understanding of the site's acoustic impact under a range of operating and meteorological conditions, supporting ongoing environmental compliance.
