Red Arches Apartments

Baldoyle, County Dublin, Ireland

ed Arches is a 205-unit residential development comprising apartments, terraced houses and townhouses arranged around landscaped courtyards and a basement car park. The development required a comprehensive acoustic design to achieve appropriate sound insulation between dwellings and meet the requirements of Technical Guidance Document E - Sound and the Building Regulations.

Allegro Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy throughout the design and construction stages of the development. The acoustic design addressed airborne and impact sound insulation between dwellings, interfaces between residential accommodation and circulation or car-parking areas, building services noise and other noise-sensitive construction details.

Detailed acoustic recommendations, technical reports and drawing mark-ups were provided to the design and construction teams, with particular attention given to wall and floor constructions, junction details and potential flanking sound transmission paths. During construction, Allegro Acoustics responded to technical queries and carried out site inspections to review acoustic detailing and construction quality.

At practical completion, on-site acoustic testing was undertaken to verify the sound insulation performance of the completed dwellings against the requirements of Technical Guidance Document E. The acoustic consultancy provided continuity from design through construction and final verification, helping ensure appropriate acoustic performance and comfortable living environments across the 205-unit development.
