Medtronic operates a major medical device manufacturing facility at Parkmore Industrial Estate in Galway. Allegro Acoustics provides ongoing environmental noise consultancy services to support the facility in managing environmental noise and meeting the requirements of its Industrial Emissions Licence.
The work includes annual Industrial Emissions Licence noise monitoring at the relevant site boundary and nearby noise-sensitive locations. Environmental noise measurements and assessments are completed in accordance with EPA Guidance Note NG4 and ISO 1996, providing Medtronic with a consistent assessment of noise emissions from the operation of the facility.
In addition to annual compliance monitoring, Allegro Acoustics has supported the site with strategic environmental noise mapping, noise complaint investigations and ongoing technical advice. This work has been used to develop a detailed understanding of noise emissions across the facility, identify significant plant and operational noise sources and support the investigation of specific environmental noise concerns.
The ongoing programme provides Medtronic with robust evidence of environmental noise compliance together with the technical information required to manage noise strategically across the site and respond effectively to noise-related issues as they arise.
