Little Mary Street Aparthotel

Little Mary Street Aparthotel is a major city-centre hospitality development in Dublin 7 requiring a comprehensive acoustic design to provide a high level of guest comfort while meeting the project’s planning requirements, Staycity Brand Standards and BREEAM certification objectives.

Allegro Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy throughout thedesign, construction and completion stages of the project. During the early design stages, baseline environmental noise monitoring was completed and a detailed 3D environmental noise model was developed using SoundPLAN. The modelling assessed noise from the surrounding road network and external building services plant, informing the façade design, external plant strategy and mitigation measures required to achieve suitable internal noise levels within guest bedrooms and other occupied spaces.

Throughout detailed design, Allegro Acoustics developed acoustic performance criteria for façade sound insulation, internal walls and floors, room acoustics, reverberation control, building services and environmental noise. The acoustic design was developed to support the requirements of BREEAM Hea 05 Acoustic Performance, with practical recommendations provided for walls, floors, doors, glazing, acoustic finishes and building services. Allegro Acoustics also completed the environmental noise assessment required to support BREEAM Pol 05 Reduction of Noise Pollution, assessing noise from the development at surrounding noise-sensitive properties.

The consultancy continued throughout construction, with the developing design and contractor proposals reviewed to maintain the required acoustic performance through installation. Following completion, an extensive programme of acoustic testing was undertaken across guest bedrooms and public areas, including airborne and impact sound insulation, building services noise, internal ambient noise, reverberation, façade performance and environmental noise.

The completed testing verified performance against the project’s acoustic design criteria, Staycity Brand Standards and the requirements of BREEAM Hea 05 and Pol 05. The end-to-end acoustic consultancy provided continuity from initial environmental assessment and design through construction and final verification, helping deliver comfortable guest accommodation within a challenging city-centre environment.
