Francis Street Aparthotel

Francis Street Aparthotel is a city-centre hospitality development in Dublin 8 requiring a comprehensive acoustic design to provide a high level of guest comfort while meeting the project’s planning conditions, BREEAM requirements and internal acoustic performance criteria.

Allegro Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy throughout the design, construction and completion stages of the project. During early design, a baseline environmental noise survey was completed and a detailed 3D environmental noise model was developed using SoundPLAN. The modelling assessed noise from external and rooftop plant together with the proposed courtyard performance area at nearby residential properties, supporting compliance with the project’s planning requirements and the BREEAM Pol 05 Reduction of Noise Pollution criteria.

Throughout detailed design, Allegro Acoustics developed acoustic performance criteria for façade sound insulation, internal walls and floors, reverberation control, building services and environmental noise. The acoustic design was developed to support the requirements of BREEAM Hea 05 Acoustic Performance, with practical recommendations provided for walls, floors, doors, glazing, acoustic finishes and building services to achieve appropriate internal acoustic conditions throughout the development.

Following construction, comprehensive acoustic testing was undertaken to verify airborne and impact sound insulation, reverberation, building services noise, intrusive noise and environmental noise against the project design criteria and support the BREEAM Hea 05 and Pol 05 assessments. The end-to-end acoustic consultancy provided continuity from initial planning and environmental assessment through detailed design, construction and final verification, helping deliver comfortable guest accommodation while achieving the project’s acoustic and BREEAM objectives.
