Clonegath Air Strip

Monasterevin, County Kildare

Clonegath Air Strip is a private airfield located near Monasterevin, County Kildare. A noise impact assessment was required to support a planning application seeking to increase the permitted number of aircraft movements and to address a Request for Further Information issued by Kildare County Council.

Allegro Acoustics was commissioned by Stephen Edghill to assess the potential impact of increased aircraft activity on nearby residential properties. Continuous environmental noise monitoring was undertaken at the three closest noise-sensitive locations to establish the existing acoustic environment and quantify noise associated with aircraft movements at the air strip.

The monitoring programme captured aircraft take-off and landing events alongside other existing environmental noise sources. Detailed analysis was undertaken to determine the contribution of aircraft movements to the local noise environment and assess the potential effect of the proposed increase in activity at surrounding noise-sensitive properties.

The completed Noise Impact Assessment provided a robust technical response to the noise-related planning requirements raised by Kildare County Council, supporting the Request for Further Information response and the planning application for the proposed increase in aircraft movements.
