Boston Scientific operates a major medical device manufacturing facility at Model Farm Road in Cork. The facility required specialist acoustic engineering support to reduce noise from manufacturing equipment and improve the workplace noise environment within operational production areas.
Allegro Acoustics completed a detailed site assessment to identify and rank the machinery and processes contributing most significantly to workplace noise levels. Individual noise sources and transmission paths were investigated to understand the cause of elevated noise levels and determine where engineering controls could provide the greatest reduction in employee noise exposure.
Following the assessment, Allegro Acoustics developed targeted engineering noise-control measures for the identified machinery and processes. Practical solutions were designed to reduce noise at source while maintaining the access, operation and functionality required for equipment operating within a live medical device manufacturing environment.
The assessment provided Boston Scientific with a prioritised noise-control strategy focused on practical engineering measures, helping the facility reduce workplace noise and employee exposure while maintaining the operational requirements of the manufacturing process.
