Whitegate Refinery in County Cork is Ireland’s only oil refinery and operates under an Industrial Emissions Licence. Allegro Acoustics provides ongoing environmental noise consultancy services to Irving Oil to support the facility in managing environmental noise and meeting the requirements of its Industrial Emissions Licence.
Allegro Acoustics provides annual Industrial Emissions Licence noise monitoring during daytime, evening and night-time periods at the relevant monitoring locations surrounding the refinery, including locations representative of nearby noise-sensitive receptors. Environmental noise measurements and assessments are completed in accordance with EPA Guidance Note NG4, ISO 1996 and the requirements of the facility’s Industrial Emissions Licence.
The measured noise environment is analysed to assess the refinery’s contribution to environmental noise at surrounding locations and determine compliance with the applicable IEL noise limits. Detailed technical reporting provides Irving Oil with a consistent assessment of environmental noise emissions from this large operational industrial facility.
The ongoing monitoring programme provides Irving Oil with robust evidence of environmental noise compliance and supports the effective management of noise from the refinery in accordance with its Industrial Emissions Licence.
