Hard Rock Hotel Dublin is a 120-bedroom city-centre hotel on Lord Edward Street, combining the protected former Parliament Hotel with a new seven-storey building on Copper Alley. The two buildings are linked by an elevated bridge and accommodate guest bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and live-music spaces within a constrained historic setting.
Allegro Acoustics acted as lead acoustic design consultant for the development. A key design challenge was to enable amplified and live music within the public areas while maintaining high levels of sound insulation and suitably low intrusive-noise levels in the guest bedrooms.
The acoustic design addressed sound separation between entertainment spaces and bedrooms, building-services noise, room acoustics and the integration of acoustic treatments within the architectural and interior-design concept. Allegro Acoustics worked closely with Consarc Design Group and Douglas Wallace to ensure that the required acoustic performance was achieved without compromising the hotel’s distinctive visual identity or the protected fabric of the existing buildings.
The completed design supported the successful delivery of Ireland’s first Hard Rock Hotel, providing an energetic music-led hospitality environment alongside the acoustic privacy and comfort expected by hotel guests.
