Marlin Hotel, Dublin

Bow Lane, Dublin 2, Ireland

Marlin Hotel Dublin is a 301-bedroom city-centre hotel on Bow Lane in Dublin 2. The development includes guest bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, gym, meeting rooms and an internal courtyard, all within a busy urban setting.

Allegro Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy throughout the design, tender and construction stages. The acoustic strategy was developed in coordination with the architectural and construction teams to integrate the required performance standards with the building layout, façade design and interior finishes.

The design addressed airborne sound insulation between bedrooms, control of external traffic noise through the building façade and noise from mechanical and electrical services. Room-acoustic measures were also developed for the bar and restaurant to control reverberation and support comfortable conversation within the active ground-floor areas.

During construction, Allegro Acoustics provided technical support, reviewed contractor proposals and completed site inspections to assess the installation of key acoustic details. Acoustic testing was then undertaken to verify the completed building performance and support certification under BREEAM Hea 05: Acoustic Performance and Pol 05: Reduction of Noise Pollution.

The completed acoustic design supported the delivery of a calm and comfortable hotel environment, allowing guests to enjoy the city-centre location and lively public spaces without unnecessary disturbance in bedrooms and other sensitive areas.
