Cargill Ireland operates a manufacturing facility in Naas, County Kildare, incorporating a range of production and operational areas where the effective management of workplace noise is important for controlling employee noise exposure.
Allegro Acoustics was retained by Cargill Ireland to complete a detailed occupational noise assessment in accordance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations. Noise measurements were undertaken at 46 representative locations throughout the facility to establish workplace noise levels and identify areas, machinery and activities associated with elevated noise exposure.
The measurement data was used to develop detailed workplace noise maps using NoiseAtWork noise mapping software. The colour-coded maps provide a clear visual representation of noise levels across the facility, allowing higher-noise areas and potential hearing protection zones to be readily identified and understood.
The occupational noise assessment provided Cargill with a detailed understanding of workplace noise across its operations and a practical basis for managing employee exposure, prioritising higher-noise areas and implementing appropriate noise-control measures where required.
