Haddington Road Primary School is a new 24-classroom school in Dublin 4, designed to provide a high-quality learning environment for mainstream and special-education teaching. The accommodation includes eight special-education teaching rooms, a gymnasium, a general-purpose hall, staff facilities and administrative offices.
Allegro Acoustics completed the acoustic design assessment in accordance with the Department of Education’s TGD-021-05 acoustic performance requirements. The work addressed the full range of acoustic criteria applicable to teaching, circulation and support spaces.
The design included assessment of internal ambient noise levels and façade sound insulation, airborne and impact sound insulation for walls and floors, rain-noise control and reverberation-time design. Particular attention was given to achieving appropriate acoustic conditions across classrooms, special-education spaces, the gymnasium and the general-purpose hall.
The completed strategy provided a coordinated acoustic design supporting regulatory compliance, effective teaching and good speech intelligibility throughout the school.
