The TU Dublin Central & East Quads form the centrepiece of the Grangegorman Campus redevelopment, one of Ireland's largest and most significant third-level education projects. Delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP), the development provides approximately 52,000 m² of state-of-the-art teaching, learning and performance spaces for around 10,000 students across science, engineering, hospitality, creative arts, media and music.
Allegro Acoustics was appointed by the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) as the independent technical advisor for acoustics throughout the project. Working on behalf of the NDFA, Allegro Acoustics developed the acoustic performance specifications for the wide range of teaching, learning and specialist spaces, ensuring each environment was designed to provide the optimum acoustic conditions for its intended use. The role extended beyond specification development to include ongoing technical oversight of the design and construction teams, reviewing detailed designs, providing technical guidance, undertaking regular site inspections and monitoring compliance throughout the construction process to ensure the completed buildings achieved the required acoustic performance.
The completed Central and East Quads provide modern learning environments that support teaching, collaboration and student wellbeing across one of Ireland's largest university campuses. Through its independent technical oversight, Allegro Acoustics helped ensure the acoustic design intent was successfully carried from concept through to completion, delivering conference halls, lecture theatres, teaching spaces, specialist learning environments and performance spaces that provide an outstanding experience for students, lecturers and visitors.
