Each assessment establishes the existing noise climate, predicts the change the project will cause, judges its significance against the relevant criteria and sets out mitigation where it is needed.
A noise impact assessment answers a specific question: what difference will this project make, and does that difference matter. Answering it properly requires baseline measurement of the existing environment, predictive modelling of the proposed operation, and an honest judgement of significance against recognised criteria.
We prepare assessments for planning applications, for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports where a formal noise and vibration chapter is required, and for industrial sites responding to a licence review or a complaint. The methodology follows EPA guidance, ISO 1996 and the relevant sector standards.
Where an assessment identifies an unacceptable impact, we design the mitigation rather than simply reporting the problem.
