Our services encompass acoustic design, modelling, analysis and testing to ensure optimal outcomes tailored to each project’s specific requirements.
We collaborate closely with design teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers, from the earliest planning stages through to practical completion.
This ensures that acoustic considerations are seamlessly integrated into every phase of the project, meeting regulatory standards and delivering environments that align with client objectives.
Our Approach
Planning Phase
- Environmental Noise Assessment: Conducting detailed acoustic surveys in compliance with ISO 1996 to evaluate the external noise environment and establish baseline conditions.
- Façade and Glazing Specification: Using methodologies outlined in ISO 12354, we ensure that façade and glazing systems achieve internal noise levels appropriate for the building type.
For residential projects, our designs comply with TGD E: Sound of the Irish Building Regulations, ensuring a quiet and comfortable living environment. - Collaboration with Design Teams: Partnering with architects, structural engineers, and M&E consultants to develop predictive acoustic models using tools such as SoundPLAN and Odeon, simulating noise emissions and internal acoustic performance.
Acoustic Design
- Developing comprehensive designs for walls, floors, doors, and M&E systems tailored to building type and use, ensuring compliance with:
- BS 8233: Guidance on Sound Insulation and Noise Reduction for Buildings.
- BCO Guide to Specification for Office Buildings.
- TGD E for residential buildings.
- SDG 02-05-03: Acoustic Design of Schools for educational facilities, optimising learning environments.
- Addressing the unique acoustic challenges of modular buildings and modern methods of construction (MMC), designing solutions that balance performance with fast-track build methodologies.
- Specifying materials and finishes that integrate acoustic performance with aesthetic and operational requirements, including:
- Speech intelligibility optimisation for meeting rooms, classrooms, and performance spaces.
- Noise isolation for privacy and productivity in residential, office, and mixed-use buildings.
- Reverberation control for communal and open-plan areas to create comfortable acoustic environments.
Construction Phase
- Supporting the project team throughout construction with:
- Technical support to address queries regarding acoustic specifications.
- Site inspections to verify that designs are implemented correctly, particularly for modular and MMC projects where assembly accuracy is critical to performance.
Post-Completion Testing
- Conducting a full suite of acoustic tests to validate compliance, including:
- Airborne and impact sound insulation testing, in accordance with ISO 16283-1 and ISO 16283-2.
- Reverberation time measurements in classrooms, offices, and performance spaces, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Noise Rating (NR) measurements for building services to verify alignment with operational requirements.
Expertise Across Sectors
- Residential Developments: Designing partitions, glazing, and façades to comply with TGD E and BS 8233, ensuring occupant comfort and privacy.
- Educational Facilities: Creating acoustically optimised classrooms and learning spaces in compliance with SDG 02-05-03, supporting student performance and teacher communication.
- Commercial Offices: Balancing collaboration and privacy in line with the BCO Guide to Specification, ensuring spaces that foster productivity and innovation.
- Modular Buildings and MMC: Addressing the unique challenges of prefabrication and rapid assembly with precise acoustic designs that maintain compliance and quality.
- Performance and Communal Spaces: Designing environments for cinemas, theatres, and large open-plan areas with tailored reverberation control and sound isolation.
