Acoustic Fit-Out Case Study: Siren Headquarters
Requirements:
Siren required a comprehensive acoustic and AV solution to optimize the functionality of their Boardroom and Phone Booths. Key requirements included:
- Achieving specified Reverberation Time (Tmf) targets for improved acoustic performance.
- Seamless integration of wall-mounted sound-absorbing finishes that complement the aesthetic of the spaces.
- Installation of advanced video conferencing hardware in the Boardroom.
- Effective sealing of doors to minimize sound leakage.
- Post-installation acoustic testing to ensure the design meets performance benchmarks.
Analysis of Requirements:
- Acoustic Challenges:
- Spaces such as the Boardroom and Phone Booths required precise acoustic treatment to reduce reverberation and improve clarity.
- Achieving the desired acoustic performance while maintaining the visual appeal of the spaces was critical.
- Video Conferencing Needs:
- The Boardroom required a state-of-the-art video conferencing system with advanced features such as AI-assisted audio optimization, high-resolution video, and multi-platform compatibility.
- Door Soundproofing:
- Effective door seals were necessary to prevent sound leakage, ensuring privacy and enhanced acoustic performance.
- Compliance with Standards:
- Post-installation acoustic testing had to comply with ISO 3382-2 standards, ensuring the results met international benchmarks.
Solution:
1. Design Works:
- Developed 3D Room Acoustic Models for the Boardroom and Phone Booths using ODEON Room Acoustic Modeling software. This enabled precise specification and placement of wall-mounted sound-absorbing finishes.
- Predicted and iteratively refined the Reverberation Time (Tmf) to ensure the spaces met the acoustic targets.
- Prepared material layout drawings for client approval, ensuring the finishes aligned with Siren’s aesthetic requirements.
2. Acoustic Installation:
- Door Seals:
- Installed head, jamb, and drop seals for doors in the Boardroom and Phone Booths. The seals were colour-matched to the door frames for seamless integration.
- Room Acoustic Finishes:
- Boardroom:
- Side Wall and Screen Wall: Installed Artnovion Myriad AE panels (colours chosen in consultation with the client).
- Back Wall: Installed Artnovion Mirage panels with a custom Siren logo graphic. Fixtures were relocated or integrated as needed.
- Phone Booths 1, 2, and 3: Installed Artnovion Mirage panels on the back wall, ceiling, and side walls.
- Boardroom:
3. Video Conference Hardware Installation and Integration:
- Installed the DTEN D7X 55” system in the Boardroom, integrated with the existing network over Cat6 connectivity.
- Key Features:
- 4K camera with a 129° viewing angle and auto-framing.
- AI-assisted audio optimization and echo cancellation.
- 15-microphone array for clear and focused speech.
- Multi-platform compatibility with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and more.
- BYOD functionality for easy screen sharing via USB Type-C.
4. Acoustic Commissioning Testing:
- Conducted post-installation testing to verify that the achieved Reverberation Time (Tmf) met the target requirements.
- Issued a detailed report in compliance with ISO 3382-2 standards, documenting the acoustic performance results.
Conclusion:
The tailored acoustic and AV solutions provided by Allegro Acoustics significantly enhanced the functionality and usability of Siren’s spaces.
- Acoustic Performance: The Boardroom and Phone Booths achieved the specified Reverberation Time (Tmf) targets, ensuring optimal clarity and sound quality.
- Aesthetic Integration: The installed acoustic finishes complemented the design of the spaces while meeting performance goals.
- Client Satisfaction: Siren expressed high satisfaction with the solutions provided, praising the improved acoustic environment and the advanced video conferencing capabilities.
- Ease of Use: The intuitive design of the DTEN D7X ensured a minimal learning curve, making it easy for employees to adopt the new system.
